Teacher of Girls PE

Job Summary:

This role reports to the Head of Faculty (PEEL) and falls within the MPS/UPS (Inner London) salary scale. It is a fixed-term, full-time position with a proposed start date in January 2024. Initially, the post holder is responsible to the Head of Department/Leadership Group Line Manager/Headteacher and other designated Line Managers. The key responsibilities include ensuring high-quality teaching and learning, teaching Physical Education (and other subjects as agreed), promoting students' interest and commitment to the subject, and implementing whole school policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure high-quality teaching and learning meeting the needs of all students.

  • Teach Physical Education (and other subjects as agreed) across the age and ability range, working mainly with groups of a single gender, as directed.

  • Promote students' interest in and commitment to the subject.

  • Implement whole school policies, including equal opportunities, health and safety, and security.

  • Assist in identifying underachievement and praising good work and effort.

  • Implement departmental policies, including assessment.

  • Maintain accurate attendance, punctuality, and assessment records for all teaching groups.

  • Contribute to the general development of the department, keeping abreast of relevant curriculum developments.

  • Assist in producing schemes of work and other relevant material for the department.

  • Support links with Feeder Primary Schools and colleges of Further and Higher education.

  • Participate in lesson observation and scrutiny of work.

  • Support subject-related pupil activities, such as educational visits.

  • Assist with the administration of the department.

  • Maintain high standards of classroom management, order, and discipline.
